Our Purpose
Our overall goal for this project is to teach and sustain. We would like to teach the younger generations about Mālama Honua and the many benefits it can bring for us. As a group, our goal is to go and speak to the middle schoolers at Kamehameha Schools about being sustainable. If all goes to plan, we'd like the students to take a pre-survey, to see how sustainable they are, and from there we are going to base our project off of the research discovered. We would also like to talk to them about the importance of the land, culture, and sustainability. Through our project, we can help direct them towards a more sustainable future and show them an initiative called the "Aloha Plus Challenge". Hopefully through this project, we will make this a better place by influencing the minds of the children to sustain what is left of this culture and land.
Agenda
Project
Our project consisted of...
- Creating a bug list of things we want to change in school
- Brainstorming
- A proposal to lay out our plan of action
- Detailed design to explain our execution of the project
- Final Presentation at a Symposium
- Final Paper to present our findings and results
Purpose and Next Steps?
Our project was to give back to our younger brothers and sisters here at Kamehameha and to educate them about the idea of sustainability and Mālama Honua through PowerPoint presentations we did at the Kamehameha Middle School campus. In the future, we hope that more groups of students from the Mālama Honua class will continue to go down to the Middle School, and possibly the Elementary School as well, to educate the students of Kamehameha about aloha ʻāina and taking care of our world.
